ORBII Campus Ambassadors: Run Safety on Your Own Campus

ORBII is hiring student campus ambassadors across India. Prizes up to Rs. 10,000, a certificate and a LinkedIn recommendation, for one term.

Most campus ambassador programmes are a sticker on a laptop and a discount code nobody uses.

This one is different for a specific reason: what you are handing out is not a product, it is a thing somebody’s daughter might press at eleven at night. That changes what the job is.

We are opening applications for ORBII Campus Ambassadors across India.

Bring hands-free Voice SOS to your campus

ORBII is a women’s safety app built in India. The part people notice first is hands-free Voice SOS: you say a word, and your phone raises an alarm without you touching it. It listens entirely on your device, so your audio never leaves your phone.

When it fires, your trusted circle gets your live location, nearby ORBII users are alerted, and 112 stays one tap away.

The reason it needs ambassadors is simple. A safety network is worth what its density is worth. One woman with ORBII on a campus of eight thousand is protected by her circle. Two hundred women with ORBII on that same campus are protected by each other.

You are not selling downloads. You are building the density that makes the thing work.

What the role actually involves

About three to five hours a week, for one term.

  • Run a few sessions. Hostel common rooms, a class, a society meeting. Fifteen minutes showing people how Voice SOS works and letting them test it themselves. The demo does the selling; you just have to be in the room.
  • Keep one group alive. A WhatsApp group where people ask questions and you answer them, or forward them to us.
  • Tell us what is broken. This is the part we care about most, and the part most programmes do not ask for. If Voice SOS fails to trigger in your hostel corridor, we want to know that week, not in a survey at the end of term.
  • Be the name people ask. When somebody on your campus has a question about the app, they should know who to ask.

That is it. Nothing here is technical, and you do not need to code.

What you get

  • Cash prizes up to Rs. 10,000 across the cohort, based on what you actually get done
  • A certificate, issued at the end of the term
  • A LinkedIn recommendation written by the founder, not a template
  • Free ORBII Premium for a year
  • A real reference. If you do this well and later want a job in growth or product, you have something specific to point at

Who tends to be good at this

The best ambassadors are usually not the most technical people on campus. They are the ones who already organise things: run a society, manage the cultural fest logistics, know a person in every hostel block.

If you have ever got fifty people to show up to something, you can do this.

We are also, honestly, more interested in people who care about the problem than people who want a line on a CV. Women’s safety on Indian campuses is not an abstract topic to most of the people who will apply, and that shows in the work.

Know what is still being built before you apply

A few things we would rather you know before you apply than find out afterwards.

Some of ORBII is still being built. Voice SOS, circles, safe zones, evidence recording, one-tap 112 and location history all work today. The offline Bluetooth mesh and the SMS lifeline are built but still in hardware testing, and we say so on the site, in the app, and here. You will be representing a product that is real and unfinished, and we would rather you could tell the difference than repeat a script.

The Community Helper Network is live across Delhi NCR today and expanding city by city. If your campus is outside that, the core protections still work everywhere, but the responder network is not there yet. Say that plainly to people. Overselling a safety app is worse than not selling it.

It is a prize-based programme, not a salary. The prizes are real and they are paid. It is not a monthly stipend, and we are not going to describe it as one.

Apply

Applications are open now.

Apply on the ORBII careers page, and pick Campus Ambassador from the role dropdown.

It takes about ten minutes. There is no cover letter and no account to create. For this role there is no interview and no work trial: you apply, a person reads it, and if it is a fit we send you everything you need to start.

Tell us which college you are at and one thing you would do in your first two weeks. That second answer is the one we actually read closely.

Frequently asked questions

What does an ORBII Campus Ambassador actually do?

You run ORBII on your own campus for one term. That means a few hostel or classroom sessions showing people how Voice SOS works, a WhatsApp group that stays active, and honest feedback from women who actually use the app. It is roughly three to five hours a week.

Is the ORBII Campus Ambassador programme paid?

There are cash prizes up to Rs. 10,000 across the cohort, plus a certificate and a LinkedIn recommendation from the founder for anyone who completes the term. It is a prize-based student programme, not a salaried job.

Do I need to be a computer science student or know how to code?

No. Nothing in the role is technical. The people who do it best are usually the ones who already organise things on campus, run a society, or know who to talk to in every hostel.

Which colleges is ORBII recruiting ambassadors from?

Any college in India. The Community Helper Network is currently live across Delhi NCR, so ambassadors there see the full app, but Voice SOS, the SMS lifeline, circle alerts and one-tap 112 work everywhere in the country.

How do I apply to be an ORBII Campus Ambassador?

Through the careers page at orbii.in/join. Pick Campus Ambassador from the role dropdown. It takes about ten minutes and there is no interview or work trial for this role.
