A Parent's Guide to ORBII: Safety Without Spying

If you have a daughter studying or working away from home, you know the specific quiet worry. It is not dramatic. It is the walk from the library to the hostel at 9pm. The cab ride you did not get a text about. The phone that rang out twice. You cannot be there, and you do not want to smother her by trying to be. That tension, wanting her safe without watching her every move, is exactly what ORBII is built for.

Here is what it actually does, in plain terms, and just as importantly, what it refuses to do.

Help without her reaching the phone

Every other safety app has the same flaw: it needs her to get to her phone, unlock it, find the app, and press a button. In the moment that matters, hands full, frightened, phone in a bag, that is the one thing she cannot do.

ORBII removes the button. She says “help” out loud, and her phone hears it and acts, even from a pocket. Her chosen circle gets her live location, people nearby are alerted, and her phone starts recording. She never touches the screen. For a parent, that is the difference between an app that looks reassuring and one that works when it counts.

A gentle heads-up if she leaves a safe place

You can set a safe zone around her college or hostel. But ORBII does not just tattle the second she steps out, because most of the time she is simply going for chai or to a friend’s room, and an app that cries wolf trains everyone to ignore it.

Instead, when she leaves the zone, she is asked first, with a distinct alert: “Did you mean to leave?” If she says yes, it is logged quietly and nobody is bothered. If she does not answer, or says no, then you are told. You get the real signals and almost none of the false ones. And she is never tracked in the dark, she sees the zone, and she can remove it.

Live location when it matters, not a leash

You see her live location during an active SOS, during a Safe Journey she starts, and if she chooses to switch on Circle sharing.

That last one deserves a straight answer, because it is the one parents ask about. You cannot turn it on for her. She switches it on herself, she decides how long it runs, and while it is on she can see that you can see her. There is no hidden mode, no admin override, no way to watch her without her knowing. If she is under 18, ORBII will not track her at all, and nothing you do as a parent can change that, because Indian law does not permit it.

We know that is not the answer some parents want. It is the one that keeps the app on her phone. A tracker she resents gets uninstalled, or left at home on exactly the night it mattered. An app she trusts stays with her, and her SOS still reaches you either way.

Private on purpose

The part that should reassure you most is the part you cannot see. The voice listening runs entirely on her phone. The audio never leaves the device, never reaches a server, and is never sold. Some of the best known family-safety apps in the world were caught selling users’ locations, including children’s. We built ORBII to be the opposite of that, because a tool you trust with your child’s safety has to be one you can trust with her privacy.
